Our Studies
Family Planning studies currently enrolling participants:
LMPSURE
The purpose of this study is to test the implementation of a new patient-facing tool (LMP-SURE) for patients to self-determine if an ultrasound is necessary prior to medication abortion. The need for an ultrasound prior to medication abortions can add additional barriers to care.

Pregnancy Intentions
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a novel tool for pregnancy intention and unmet need for contraception among a population of hospitalized patients. If you are eligible for this study, more information will be provided at your visit.

Pregnancy intention and knowledge in patients with psychiatric disorders
The purpose of this study is to survey patients aged 18-45 who are on mental health medications and/or who have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder about their pregnancy planning. If you are interested in this study, click here.

Self-performed Rh typing as adjunct to no test medication abortion
The purpose of the study is to evaluate if patients can successfully perform the EldonCard blood type testing on their own and whether patients are comfortable doing this testing. If you are eligible for this study, more information will be provided at your visit.

Telemedicine for Medication Abortion: Patient Survey
The purpose of this study is to survey patients who had a medication abortion via telehealth. We hope to better understand their experience and improve our own protocols through the results of this survey. If you are eligible for this study, more information will be provided at your visit.

Tranexamic Acid Effect on Bleeding Outcomes
The purpose of this study is to determine if the medication Tranexamic Acid helps reduce bleeding during dilation and evacuation.  If you are eligible for this study, more information will be provided at your visit.

Other Reproductive Health and Public Health research currently enrolling participants:
COVID-19 Vaccine Survey
The purpose of this study is to learn more about how people who are considering having a child, currently pregnant, recently pregnant, or breastfeeding feel about the COVID-19 vaccine. If you are interested in this study, please see our flyer here.

Improving Race and Ethnicity Data Collection in a Multiracial Population
The purpose of this study is to develop a system to improve the way we collect race and ethnicity information. In order to understand health disparities and inequities that exist uniquely in Hawaii, it is important for us to be able to analyze data in our medical records and that begins with collecting data in a more relevant, consistent, and accurate way. If you are eligible for this study, more information will be provided at your visit.

Sleep & Gestational Diabetes
The purpose of this study is to look at the relationship between sleep and gestational diabetes. If you are interested, please see here for our flyer.
